Blue wave, whoop-de-doo. People actually think the other guys winning is gonna make things better? When will we learn, if we keep voting red or blue, we're putting ourselves in a perpetual cycle of doom? Come 2 years later, people will be unsatisfied again and there'll be another red wave. Then 2 years after that, blue again. It's not gonna change unless we change. I hope I'm proven wrong and things do actually get better, but I doubt it.

Every time I saw a comment that said "vote blue no matter who" I always responded with "vote blue but be careful who" because there are crazy extremists in every political party.
Not all Republicans are bad (a lot of them are innocently ignorant) and not all Democrats are bad (a lot of them are airheads) and even Independents have their oddballs.
The problem for me, is that I have above average intelligence. This means that when I interact with people, there's a greater chance of them being less intelligent than me. That's not always a bad thing, but damnit I'm tired of explaining things or teaching or any of that bs. I'm more likely to just look at them and not say anything at all - even if that means they think I'm not listening to them.
Changing the subject sometimes works, but it backfires with some people, so I need to be careful.
I just want to work until I retire (less than 10 years now) and then be done with it. I have a lot of plans for retirement, and not having to endure ignorant coworkers sounds like victory to me.
Maybe I just need to trust that my fate depends on whether other people can stop breathing methane. All they need to do is stop shoving their noses up other people's asses. Stop doing that, and there's no more methane clouding their judgement. (I do dream a lot - I really don't have much faith in humanity anymore.)
