When did wait staff and other food service workers get such a damn chip on their shoulder towards US, the customers??? What happened to, CUSTOMER SERVICE, respect, politeness, manners, and gratitude?? It used to be THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT, but now with with all these young KIDS (Millennials and Gen Z) coming into these workplaces, they have gotten so RUDE, unaccommodating, and unhelpful! I expect to be spoken to in a manner that shows they are grateful I am there, and appreciate me choosing their business over another one. That is how it is supposed to be! But you walk in now, and they barely greet you, hardly look at you, rush you through ordering, and REFUSE to make one simple request happen. Restaurants are supposed to appease ME , the customer! Whatever I ask for, they are expected to at least TRY to make happen, but you don't see that now. They are uppity in their tone, short, snippy and talk to you like you're wasting their time and you're stupid for asking a question.
I have never been treated this way until about the past ten years I've noticed an increase. They will actually stand there and ARGUE with you, and flat out tell you "NO" that they won't or can't do something. Even the managers and, even the owners are doing this! NO is never an acceptable response to a customer. The acceptable response is, "We will find a way to make it happen sir/ma'am" and even if that means sending your staff to the store to BUY the ingredients you want, and waiting even after closing for you, the CUSTOMER, to be finished. And by finished, I mean, when I AM ready to leave. If I ask for refills, BOOM, I expect it. If I want more food, BOOM, I expect it. If I want more bread, BOOM..I expect it! Not, "We are out of iced tea for the night" or, "We are no longer serving such and such." Not even a sincere apology, nor attempt to make it right from a manager. No offer of free meal, or discounts, or a gift card!
That never used to happen, and back when I was young, NO ONE talked back to a customer, or they were VERY sorry. My father put many waitresses, cooks, owners and managers right back in their place when they tried to "get smart" at him! That was back when America WAS great, and those who worked in a SERVICE industry, knew their lane and stayed in it. You're sure the hell NOT better than me if you're waiting tables, taking orders, cooking up food, or managing a restaurant! Where do YOU get off speaking to ME that way??? I made better life choices, and I guess it is pure jealously that I make more money, have a nicer car and home, and an ACTUAL respectful job title compared to someone with the lowest qualifications and least important job in society!
SEE, this is WHY tipping has stopped. I hear these KIDS whining they want "livable wages" and complaining that people don't tip, but why should we????? And no one should expect to live off restaurant or fast-food wages, they weren't intended to be livable! They are KID'S JOBS. When adults work there, I can only assume you're an idiot, lazy, and trash! You can't do better for yourself by adulthood, but then think you're going to lord over me with some power trip? I DON'T THINK SO!
I REFUSED to pay for my meal at a Chili's last night because the LITTLE GIRL taking my order was STUCK-UP, inpatient, catty, and kept sighing, rolling her eyes, and raising her eyes brows at me. I wasn't kind, because I don't have to be. They have to be kind TO ME. I wasn't polite, because I don't have to be. I didn't feel bad that she had to stand there and add more to my order and redo it, because that is HER job. I don't care if they near closing, because I came in with my family before closing, and I can stay there as long as I want, and still expect 100% amazing service! Then what I want, I am told they are out of, because "they dump the iced tea" and they "ran out" of salmon which was the reason i went there! They refused to comp my family's order, or do a damn thing. So, we left without paying. Why should I pay????
Well, now I am being charged with "theft of services" because some bozo that works there ran out and got my our Jeep's plate number, then called the police. The cops show up at 11pm last night, WAKE US UP, and I nearly get arrested over it! Now, I am trespassed, have to go to court, and being treated like a common thief and criminal! The cop went on about how he "could arrest me" if he wanted to, and he was some young KID too and has ZERO regard or respect for how late it was at my HOME that I OWN before he came pounding on my door! He hardly let me get two words in, and kept talking over me, telling me that "regardless of your opinion about the service, you still can't walk out without paying." I first reminded him who HE works for (me!) and then I tried to explain to him that I am not obligated to pay for something I wasn't satisfied with, and I told them at Chili's that was the case. Since when do we as consumers have to pay for a service we didn't actually receive or a defective product? That is what me and my family's experience was there! Not one of us were happy when we left, and went home miserable after a bunch of overpriced awful food and piss poor treatment! But here I am, being treated like a felon or something, even after I offered to go back and pay today! That wasn't good enough. And to trespass me?? From a Chili's?? How can a Chili's even have the authority to do that?? That is a public place. He didn't care to shut up for two seconds to listen to me, and just kept interrupting me and raising his voice at me! This cop had to be a rookie, and no older than 22, there is NO way he was any older than that, but he thinks he gets to talk to me, like that? He probably still lives at home!
I already sent emails to corporate over this, and found the regional manager and sent him emails. I haven't heard back yet, but this isn't the end of this. I am NOT going to court and being treated like I am some awful degenerate of society that doesn't pay for my food and deserves this humiliation.
This is all because we have taken discipline out of the home, and removed work ethic. Made jobs as easy and simple as possible where a bunch of kids hardly have to lift a finger, and have never been set down and taught about respecting ADULTS and what a PAYING customer means! I used to work as a teenager too, and I respected every single one of the customer that came into the little gas station I worked at every summer from sixteen years old until I was nineteen and finally moved out of town! I never once talked to any of my older customers that way, not once and the owner of the place would have skinned me alive if he found out I did!
See, when you got a whole generation that is confused about their sexuality, confused about their gender, confused about what being an American means, has no concept of hard work, and have enabling lazy stupid parents and a bunch of wokie teachers encouraging this snot-nosed arrogant behavior, this is the result!

Jesus, when are you Boomers going to get that Millennials aren't "kids" and the newest generation anymore? Whenever your small little brains can't grasp something you blame "millennials." Do you even know what generation that is? Millennials are in their thirties and early forties now. Hardly "kids."
Boomers love calling everyone else overly sensitive, entitled and snowflakes, mocking about how "everyone gets offended nowadays" but clearly you're the ones that can't control your feelings, and think you're entitled to every goddamn thing you want on demand. You come from a time when no one had to work hard for anything, because you lived in a surplus economy and wages matched the cost of living. You also came from a time that throwing a fit got you your way, and the only emotion you can express is petty anger. Now look at you, having a meltdown because you go into a chain restaurant after closing, demand stuff that isn't even available, and think the staff should have to go to the store and get salmon to prepare for you, and make you a fresh pot of iced tea. Talk about the generation with Main Character Syndrome! It sure isn't those "kids", it is YOU. I imagine your family is regularly humiliated by you but can't get a word in edge wise to say a damn thing to you about it, or you explode in a loud meltdown at them. Of course the cops showed up, and you weren't a paying customer, what you did was "dine and dash" and it is theft, It doesn't matter that your tender feelings say you shouldn't have to pay for the food you ordered and consumed. You are lucky that cop didn't arrest you, he had grounds to do so, especially the way you were screaming in his face.
I am so glad your generation is starting to fade off. You're the worst people to have ever lived and 90% of the problems we have in this country can be traced back to you and your selfish, "me, me, me! I am the most important, me!" attitude. Rae 12 hours ago
You are insufferable and behave this way everywhere you go. Your family dreads going anywhere with you, I promise you that. Calendar Girl... 12 hours ago
Hey Karen, you're the problem. It is you. Not service workers. Not the waitress. Not the manager. Not the police. Not any other generation. It is you. You're the problem. anonymous 12 hours ago
