If you reject your past because it's full of monsters and you decide "where we come from/ our childhood is not all that we are" - makes perfect sense. Good on ya. *I* claim ALL my childhood and say "where I come from and my childhood made me" because THAT IS how I reject the monsters and their BS. I don't have to use YOUR rubric any more than I make YOU use mine.

My early life was like Shameless and I was forced to deny and repress everything. Hard for me to not constantly remind myself now how horrible things were, even if I'm away from it now.
