The SCOTUS has definitively ruled Trump is above the law. He can if he so choses literally shoot someone on 5th Ave and get away with it.

The Democrat Party while being the party of Civil Rights & Social Justice has one limiting obstacle, it's a heterogenous party comprised of all the groups unwelcomed in the homogenous Republican Party which is more conservative. This means though it is in the Democrat Party's DNA to stand tough on their positions no matter what the opposition throws at them like torching their homes, a tactic used in the 60's and just a few weeks ago in PA at the Democrat Governor's home, the ability to chart a course of action gets complicated with all the disparate groups comprising the melting pot that is the Democrat Party who if one were privy to kitchen table talk one would find these groups really don't like each other that much, only sticking together because there's safety in numbers. For the Republican Moderates it is simply the fact crossing Trump will bring trouble to you and your family. Republicans are not built for that kind of trouble like Democrats; they are a go along to get along mentality, simply because there's no other viable option for them living in the cocoon homogeny of the Republican Party. They must remain in the cocoon, whether the structure is to their liking or not, at all costs to survive and they will do what ever takes to do so.

What saddens me is all of the Democrats who "cut and run" rather than facing down Trump. A few are still hanging on to fight for their districts, to attempt to protect their districts from Trump as best as they can, but most just ran. Too bad it took this to find out who the real allies, the real brave people are, but how the fuck does that do us any good now?

You are right; Trump can kill a person on a street in a major city in cold blood, and nothing would happen to him. And there are plenty of excusers who will put full blame on his victims so his political career wouldn't be harmed either.

A few days ago, I finally came to the shocking realization that this country can no longer be considered a democracy. Yes, I've been bantering about it for a while, I've heard others mention this, but the full impact, the full reality of the situation didn't click with me until now. I think they call this a delayed trauma response.

America is no longer a democracy, period, de facto.
