You have some valid points. However, inflation is real. Grocery prices have increased. In my high school, a carton of milk was served to students at lunch for 25 cents each. Lunch was 2 dollars for a whole meal (milk included). Can't imagine those prices now.
By the way, you seem obsessed with used the r word. Use a better word.
