Online dating in real life

It's not like the movies where two good looking, normal people meet and have a relationship. It's also not like the "True Crime" horror stories of people being lured in. Also, most people aren't even there to date or fuck. They don't even know what they want.

Across the board. Black, white, straight, gay, male, female, urban, or rural. It's like people can't find anyone on the apps and aren't happy using them. Conversation is usually dead before it starts, meaning you'll match, and they either don't send anything, or you get one worded responses until one of you finally have enough.

You also get childish, bratty behavior from socially inept people. You like a page and this person sends the first message within minutes, but they can't converse for shit. Then you try to humor it, thinking they might warm up, and they just act like an immature child despite being over 30. Dumb jokes, jabby put downs like they'd do on a sitcom, fake emojis. Ughhh.

If you do somehow defy the odds and get a date, you won't be happy. I went on one date, and? I didn't find them attractive, only the idea of OMG someone could like me. They had no personality, despite being very book smart. The rapid fire set of questions felt like a job interview and less like an awkward meeting at Starbucks like it was.

I am not a childish weirdo. I'm someone who very much lacked (and still does) lack a good bit of self confidence. I kind of snapped after dealing with enough low grade profiles to finally get off of there for good, and understand I do have value and a person would be happy to date me, should I meet the right person.

Basically it's 98% childish, socially inept fuck ups who are only after themselves, 1% well together people just checking things out, and then the last 1% was what I fell into of being someone who wanted a relationship but really needed to work on myself first.

If me and that awkward fucking person had have gone out again it would have been a nightmare. The crazy expressions they made, the basic bitch interests. It would have felt like I was babysitting a 30 year old.
