indy games are a lot of work

Really fucking sucks how people are complaining about AAA ownership or constantly begging for remakes when indie games can be a lot of fucking work. When someone is solo and not buying assets they're doing the work of a ton of people. Not even just technical shit either. They've got PR and have to run social media too. That shit can be relentless too. Some of these indie journalists come hard af.

I've been at this shit for months now and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel because the game is short. Though, given how I designed the tools and workflow I could probably easily pad it without delaying launch a whole lot. It's not going onto steam either. IDC. They suck for indies unless indies get a lot of attention. They take $100 up front, that most indies never recover. They take 30% per sale before taxes or anything else. If a game happens to be under 2 hours they offer automatic refunds, they expect you to treat your game as a SaaS product, to run communities on their site, etc. For what? So statistically you'll get maybe $5k over the course of your game, but most don't even break $1k.

Anyway, my lazy ass is doing the work of a full team on a fucking potato at that. We'll see how it does IG, but I don't expect much.
