Fuck Hiring Managers That Lie

Earlier this year I had a low paying and shit job that wasn't glamorous or fun or anything, but it was a solid 40 with some occassional OT. It didn't pay the bills, but whatever, I was with my mom and finishing up college. Yeah, super old to be living with my mom IDGAF suck my fucking dick. I've watched more people die than you probably know, nearly died in a drunk driving accident as a kid, and had a fucking stroke on the highway due a fucking undiagnosed birth defect. Dumbshit doctors tried to put my ass on Cholesterol meds for life even after shit was addressed because of the stroke regardless of my cholesterol levels. So some assholes have great jobs and don't even fucking pay attention, which is great.

Anyway, so the job didn't pay shit and I found one that paid alright. I applied, took a few weeks but take an interview before work. I am completely fucking open and honest that I am gainfully employed while interviewing with this company. I am completely fucking honest about my background being largely logistics, and this job is for machine operator. I am completely fucking honest about my goals to move up the corporate ladder during the interview, and I even went over the time by 10 minutes asking too many questions. I had Google Gemini and ChatGPT get me the lowdown on the company as much as I could think. I watched their pre-interview video. I did everything in my fucking power to make sure this position would be a fit for me, and more importantly that it could be a long-term opportunity.

They think it's great and offer me a job at what I found out was basically the lowest tier at which they pay people. They have four steps for paying people, and they basically start people out at the second step. Why do they have the first step? So they can say they start people at that step, but in reality the new hire rate is actually the "second step." How do I know? A 3rd shift Operations Manager who loves to shove his head up the new hires' ass and micromanage them weekly during probation accidentally told me during a check-in. I asked about step raises because a trainer brought it up. He tried to assure me it wasn't their lowest step until he accidentally blurted out that step two is actually their "new hire rate."

Whatever, it was still more than I was making by quite a bit. However, during that interview they dropped some details that they knew were bullshit. One, they told me that they were having monthly mandatory OT on weekends. Guess what gets cut just as I get out of probation? Mandatory OT once a month. Oh, but they couldn't have known, right? Yeah, a line leader was saying they could've stopped it a solid 3-4 months BEFORE they even interviewed me and made it voluntary only. The only reason they didn't until they absolutely had to is because people rely on that shit. Fucking unlimited OT and sometimes even triple OT on holidays to none at all for the foreseeable future is some shit.

Wait though, it gets better! They're overhired by 105% in the bottling department (my old department). Do you think they've stopped hiring? You're giving them too much credit. I'm willing to bet they happily found someone to replace me! Someone they fed all sorts of bullshit to. They're billions in debt (public information), purchased an expensive building in another state because a different building is going to shut down in two years and lay off hundreds of people (you can find it in the news), and so on. They don't give a fuck about anyone.

Now I'm scrambling to make sure I can pay rent. I'm working at Amazon which pays enough for the moment, and offers a solid 40 at the moment. However, I know enough to know that once peak passes the 40 won't be there anymore. I've worked at Amazon outside of peak. Shits not pretty. No one's gonna pay you over $21 in this area to mop and wipe walls for long unless they really like looking at you or having you around.

Thing is, if people had just been fucking honest it could've been avoided. I stuck with this company for way longer than I should have. I could've sat at my lower paying job waiting to reapply for jobs that were a little closer to home and paid roughly the same, but wanted me to work more OT so I didn't want them.

Just like everything else though it's my fault, and if I work in feminism in here i'll get all sorts of women trying to make some point about how i'm just some lonely lazy dude. Fucking tossing around boxes that almost weigh as much as their meals for a living, and I'm lazy. Got a BSc I don't use and I'm lazy. Because that's how feminists view the world. People fucking enable shit like this and then wonder why we aren't working harder, too. Shits why I don't talk to people.

I'm honest. To a fucking fault.
You can't tell a truth to save your life. If someone held a gun to your head and asked an innocent fucking question they'd pull the trigger several fucking times over because of your constant fucking lying. The best part is when these people act like they're doing someone a favor making their life a million times worse. Like doctors who ignore their colleagues or therapists who think saying "you are enough" justifies a $200/hr rate. Then of course the feminists who empower those scam artists, and all the people who are cool with this system or blame the individuals like me for the shit we go through, and then wonder why we keep our mouths shut.

Shit needs to fucking change.
