When I say "I dont exactly like his portrayal of post-scarcity civillization and..." and you dont let me finish and retort "so you just think life is meaningful if people are struggling and suffering". That's you assuming and putting words in my mouth. I have never said I think everyone should struggle or have problems to find enjoyment in life. In fact, I have no problem with that. I constantly read about post-scarcity in scifi. I was making a point on why there was no ontological evolution on the humans in the first place? I'm not asking about them being alien, but the way the characters had been written leads me to believe these are 20th century humans and not people in a millenia-spanning utopia. Like jesus, this guy had all the likes but never actually answered or made a counterpoint. But the other guy who stayed on topic, made a valid argument and managed to explain, had no likes at all. Oh and not to mention, the dude that strayed even got more of his kind to dogpile on me, saying the same shit, when I never said anything about finding meaning in suffering. Some of them even made arguments about hedonism that I never even mentioned or implied about.
And why cant people actually read the entire argument before assuming something and then just go off and argue against an assumption, something I had never said? Nothing is more annoying than that then you see the out-of-topic comment have the most likes. There is a serious problem with people being so reactionary they completely disregard the scope of the topic and go on to have imaginary fights with themselves.
