Texas Friday Night Football

WTF is the Gov Abbott doing talking about Friday Night football to some reporters question? Deflecting how under his leadership as governor yet another group young kids have been killed from incompetence of officials.

Texas has had over the last several years, multiple 100 year rain/weather events -- all a result of Climate Change. Like going back to 2017 the rain from Harvey, a "once in 100 year" event, caused several neighborhoods in the Houston area to be flood when a reservoir damn had to release the record levels of stormwater though its outlet gates to prevent a more catastrophic dam failure that would have caused even more destruction. These flooded neighborhoods were knowing built in the reservoir flood boundaries, but the residents were assured that it would take a "once in a lifetime" weather event. And since then there've been lots more 100 year/once in a life time events happening in Texas like the 2021 Winter Storm that knocked out the power grid due to a lot of the power generating sources being iced over. The icing cause by excessive moisture in the air from climate changing global warming that turned into ice when artic air came into contact with it.

Texas should have mandated that those camps, especially those with little kids, so close to rivers be removed. The inspector that came though 2 days before, they should be fired for giving that girls camp a passing grade for flood safety. The place should have been given an unfit for habitation notice due to the danger of the river feet away. Though once may have been safe these camps are no longer because of climate change. Sudden downpours of years worth of rain that can raise a body of water in less than an hour to get to catastrophic flood stage is now a common occurrence - they rise in feet per minute now, and placement of dwellings should adhere to the adage "if you can see the water, the water can take your house."
