Get ready, y'all... I was just making supper and while peeling potatoes and I started smelling soap. So I start looking on the counter like maybe I spilled some Dawn dish soap while cleaning up breakfast meal & couldn't find any. Then I noticed the smell is coming off the potatoes I'm peeling, so I take a small piece to taste and gross, they taste like they were dipped in some kind of solvent. Best guess they washed them in some chemicals to make them look fresher after sitting in storage over winter to not have to toss them and lose money because they know they can get away with it now that federal food inspections are going to be scaled way back. The supermarket Food Lion where I got them was in national news about 30 years ago after getting caught doing this very same thing with spoiled meat in bleach, and now they can start up again without worry of getting caught. So I don't know where these potatoes got chemically treated down the line to me buying them, but I do know I and the rest of us consumers will probably be tossing out more food that's doesn't seem safe to eat because of lack over oversight by federal agencies like FDA.

With everything being thrown to the states, there's no incentive for any regulation to be made on a consistent basis across the country.
Maybe we don't need the clownshow anymore. No federal anything. No president. No cabinet. No senate or congress - everything just needs to be state by state. This way, the weakest states will end up with the lowest populations because they'll just kill everyone off.
Currently some states can manage on their own and do very well. I wonder if the federal government is willing to give the land back to the people who were here first? (Im not talking about eurocentrism, either.)
You find it in food, and I'm seeing it in other areas. We all need to be vigilant. anonymous 15 hours ago
