Does anyone remember the Big red book?

Does anyone remember the Big red book?

My dad had a a very old *red book that was a book of fairy tales; short stories that were pretty **grim and brutal, and not the Disney stuff that people think
of when they hear "fairy tales". Two stories that stand out in my mind were-

- About a boy who was a total brat, always misbehaving, and refusing to do what he was told. It basically ended with stuff auch as his school shirt floating away and him deperately grabbing it so he could put it on and his mother being instantly transformed into a frail, old, dying women by whatever force was punishing him for his misdeeds.

- Another story was about a girl who put on a peral necklace, and whenever she misbehaved or maybe it was because she stole it, the necklace became shorter and it started choking her and she couldn't take itoff. I don't think she died in this story, but rather being taught a painful lesson by this necklace.

*It might have been two seperate books/volumes but it was so long ago I'm not sure. I also thought it might have been Grimm's Book of Fary Tales, but I couldn't find either of those stories in it when I checked through an online text copy.

**Back when fairy tales were meant to warn kids about the dangers of life as well as providing moral lessons, and not the sappy romance "happily ever after" stories that we see today.

I wish online discussion wasn't so balkanized these days as it's very hard to find a place where I could expect to get a definitive answer on this. =\

My own story-

A thief was ealking down the forest road with a bag of
loot when he came upon a huge fox who wore a collar
that was was studded with beautuful jewels, and it
had rhe finest etchings in it and it was made of
the fines gold on the outside. The collar was chained to a large thick tree. The fox, who could talk said
to the man "unlock this collar, and you can have
it. You will be rich!".

The exited man got out his lockpicking tools
and started working at the keyhole on the collar,
and after a long while, the collar opened and the fox
was freed. But then the man felt very diszy and began
to collapse. He looked at the fox and to His amazement
and horror, saw the fox transform into a clothed man right before his eyes. He looked down at his own hands, and watched them transform into paws. Without saying
a word, the fox turned man grabbed the thief's bag and
ran away down the road. Suddenly, an old but big,
strong woman came up, shook her head, and said to the man now foz "I leave you by the road for a while and look what happens!". The woman locked the collar on the fox's neck and unlocked the chain leash from the tree, and walked him deep into the woods, far away from the
road She relocked the chain around another big tree. "Now ypu won't get lost" said the woman. The fox tried to speak, but all he could do was make weak,
barely audiable fox noises. ~*(THE_END)*~
