Anything will help, please

I feel really conflicted on what to feel. I joined this group to practice on acting, using our own characters and basically playing dolls with them (playing DND if you want to go there), and made a few good friends from there. After a week or so, I invite my boyfriend to join me in it. It's been complicated with him, and I'm starting to regret it for several reasons.

First few sessions with him included have been rough. He's completely new to it, so I won't judge him for either breaking character or getting too immersed into it. In the group, he argued with a couple people and is currently on his final warning before he's banned from it.

Whenever he went to work and I went to the group without him, he got really worried about missing out on anything. We talked about it several times, trying to find a solution or something that could have us meet at the middle, and I thought we finally met in the middle until recently.

We were casually talking and enjoying each others company before I mentioned that I offered to help make something for the group, and he did a complete 180 with his attitude. His tone felt off and he went off to do his own thing, kinda just leaving me there. After an hour or so, I ask what's the matter then he tells me that he hates how addicting it is. It makes him happy in the moment, and then when it's done, he feels like shit and hates it, and then the cycle repeats.

It may not be the same situation as addictions, but it's still an unhealthy relationship towards something.

I went though my own addictions, more so with self-harm and spiraling thoughts when I was younger, so I can sorta relate to it. The more we talked, the more I started to regret ever bringing it into our lives. I thought it was harmless, but it wasn't for it. Now I'm seriously considering having him leave the group, but I know that wouldn't solve anything and would start another problem. Even when I mentioned it, he even agreed that it would cause another situation, but honestly I'm so tempted to but I know it's seriously wrong.

I just don't know what to do right now, I don't want to just sit on my ass and let him hurt himself over something like this. I agree that it's a little pathetic, but it doesn't change the fact that he's addicted to it to the point he's itching for it.

Please is anyone has any ideas or tips, please tell me. I want to help him but I don't know how when I'm used to just cutting off the main source of the problem.
