Annoying Site Manager

Let me start by saying I actually like my job, I work for a security firm our current contract is with an Outlet company to protect the entire property as well deter any thefts or other criminal activity. I do my job to the best of my ability in fact the staff in the store tell me verbatim that they feel safer with me around because I make my presence known unlike my site manager who just "goes by the book" to satisfy the corporate management and is usually rude to staff. Whenever an incident occurs regardless of the end result, he gives me shit that it ever happened to begin as if I'm supposed to be able guard 109 stores and 10,000 square feet all at once when the contract makes it so there's only one guard at a time. If I follow his guidelines and something happens then I'm not doing my job, if I try to be optimal while still trying to follow the rules then I'm disregarding orders. Outside of management being a pain in the ass I enjoy talking to the staff, on good days I like what I do but this was always a steppingstone for me to a bigger career path anyway. The only things keeping me here is still liking it enough, semi-decent pay, and wanting to gain more experience before I inevitably exit. Especially with this guy trying to essentially insinuate my job is on the line.
